Your passion is using as much data as possible to create an original idea, and then presenting the results to make or influence critical decisions.

Shooju makes this process smoother and more enjoyable by cutting out the monotonous pieces. No more browsing, clicking, downloading, copying, pasting, formatting, Excel linking, and repeating this every time data is updated. Errors are reduced, time is saved and you get to do more of the good part: analysis.

Keep your model updated

Manually keeping a model that uses even a few data sources updated sucks up tremendous resources.

Shooju solves this by making the latest public, subscription and internal data available immediately in Excel and other modeling tools. Unlike with a traditional data aggregator, you are not limited to a specific list of data providers. Shooju integrates with any data source, including your internal data.

on updating each data source

Improve quality

Manually updating models and dashboards leads to inconsistent, incorrect, and out-of-date results.

Shooju replaces error-prone data wrangling with an automated import and update process. This means better results, faster turnaround times and lower stress. And because using Shooju doesn't require IT support, you will see benefits within hours - not weeks.

Use any analytical tool

To stay compatible with colleagues, analysts often have to settle for tools that are not the best for the problem they are trying to solve.

Shooju enables analysts to choose any analytical tool without having to worry about data compatibility. For example, an R user surrounded by Excel colleagues can feel right at home refreshing his R model with real-time inputs from a colleague's Excel forecast*. Shooju disentangles the analytical tool from the data it uses or generates, thereby freeing the analyst to choose the right tool for the job.

* No saving Excel files to specific locations, parsing CSVs in R, network drives, or waiting over a split second required.

Your mandate is to manage your organization's analytical data, improve internal data flows, and build better data-driven applications - faster.

Many technology departments lack the resources to achieve this, leaving business users to find their own band-aid fixes. Shooju provides a complete solution that integrates seamlessly into workflows and significantly speeds up application development.

Build better analytical applications, faster

Working with analysts to build visualization and modeling applications consumes vast IT and developer resources.

Sophisticated technology teams are used to relying on modern visualization, enterprise BI, and other frameworks to deliver results in weeks. However, relying on analyst teams' tangled analytical data to power critical applications turns weeks into years as developers and IT scramble to build data entry workflows, design Excel-based ETL processes, and resolve analyst naming conventions. Shooju allows developers to focus on developing applications instead of wrangling analyst data.

Improve internal data flows

Data flows within analytical organizations are opaque, hard-to-learn, involve too many time-wasting steps, and nearly impossible to repair when key team members leave.

Shooju streamlines workflows in any analytical tool through native plugins. This eases the burden on IT of having to support proliferating analytical tools (R, Python, Tableau, etc) and makes data workflows more resilient and sustainable.

steps to refresh a data source

Your use of internal and external data is centered on making better decisions.

The Shooju platform supports traders' unique mix of analytical tools, methods, and data sources. True data advantage can only come from a custom platform.

Your data sources

Experienced traders know the market is not transparent and those with the right non-mainstream data sources stand to benefit.

The issue is as soon as the big market data providers start distributing a data set, it quickly becomes mainstream and any competitive advantage from having used it is lost. At the same time, accessing data sources that are not covered by the big data providers is prohibitively time-consuming. Shooju gives traders simple and immediate access to any external or internal data source, giving them an edge over others.

Your data tools

Traders are often locked in to specific data vendor software even though their trading strategy would benefit from a different tool.

Shooju allows any data to be used in any tool, from Excel to R to Quantrix. If off-the-shelf tools are not enough, trader dashboards and modeling packages can be quickly built on using the Shooju API.

Listen to your analysts (or other analysts)

Traders who are supported by analysts struggle to integrate their analysts' perspective into their data flows.

The analysts' output changes too frequently, is too voluminous, or is just irrelevant to the trader. Shooju solves all three problems by making it just as easy to link to internal sources as external and by letting the trader pick apart the analyst output to get just the relevant data. Shooju does this while maintaining data flexibility, allowing you to easily switch from an internal analyst to data provided by an external consultant.

Move data
faster between users

Your vision is that analytical data will give you an edge over your competitors, but you're not sure how.

Popular technologies come full with features that promise to revolutionize your analytical team. Instead of focusing on features, at Shooju we offer an approach that values productive analysts and sustainable and transparent data flows.

More productive, more accurate, and happier analysts

Highly trained analysts spend too large a portion of their time data wrangling instead of doing higher value-added analysis.

Shooju automates the monotonous and error-prone data wrangling that adds minimal value. Analysts in turn enjoy their job more and have more time to do real analysis.

Improve business continuity

Busy IT departments and complex data flows force analysts to find band-aid solutions that add tremendous complexity and threaten business continuity.

The arsenal of creative analysts includes unsustainable and untraceable Excel macros, Access databases, and scripts that disappear when authors switch jobs. As a result, new hires take months to catch up and even experienced analysts find it hard to fill in for sick colleagues. Shooju improves business continuity by offering analysts simple-to-use and transparent solutions rather than forcing them to invent (or reinvent) complex data flows from scratch.

Add transparency to your team's data flows

Even experienced analysts can spend days auditing a single data flow, and often fail to reach critical conclusions.

Which website did the original data come from? Which cells are inputs and which are calculations? When was the data downloaded? Seemingly simple data workflows such as downloading a weekly Excel file from a government website and copy-pasting it into a table to be used in a presentation can become an audit nightmare. Shooju solves this by keeping all data flows in-tact through links. When a new hire takes over a spreadsheet, he can instantly see all data sources used, refresh times, source URLs, etc.

Import external or internal data on a scheduled, manual, or triggered basis. Shooju or client administrators decide how often importers run, where they capture data from, which data is captured, and who is informed.

Shooju API

All Shooju functionality is exposed through a single API. This allows very fast analytical application development by our clients, by us, and by third party developers.

Analyst Tools

We support native plug-ins for a wide range of analyst tools such as Excel, Tableau, R, Python, etc. We believe analysts should be able to use their data in any off-the-shelf or custom tool.

Universal search

Shooju organizes all analytical data in one Lucene-indexed repository that is searchable from one Search API. This makes possible sophisticated queries than span all data sources.

Unified API

Shooju uses one Unified API for everything. Developers then use our API to build completely new business-specific applications and dashboards or integrate Shooju data into existing processes.

Native Tool Integration

Our goal is to make linking to Shooju seamless in any analyst tool. We support Excel through a native C# Add-In, Tableau through a native ODBC connector, Python through a native package, and many others.

Our ODBC driver allows connectivity with legacy systems and visualization and analytical tool providers such as Tableau, Spotfire, EViews, and others.

Continuous Backup

Shooju retains all revisions to all data, whether internal or external. Current data and historical revisions are replicated across the cluster in real-time and shipped off-site on a daily basis.

Usage Analytics

Shooju tracks Usage Analytics for all internal use by analysts, including software used, location of file in which the data was used, time, and other meta-data. Managers use the analytics data to understand reliance on data sources and models, and analysts use it to understand which data is most popular among colleagues.

Data Sources

We support any data source you use. We can work with your paid data providers using your credentials or import freely available public sources.

We support anything!
Including your data

Analyst tools

Analysts know the right tool for the job. Our philosophy is to enable analyst use of any tool by developing native plug-ins (such our Excel Add-In) or by using natively supported connectors (such as ODBC for Tableau and Spotfire).

Microsoft Excel

The Shooju Excel Add-In is our most widely-used and best-supported native plugin. Analysts use our Add-In to embed Shooju data in models, dashboards, and presentations, and to write the results of calculations back to Shooju for use by colleagues.

Shooju makes Tableau even more powerful by simplifying and speeding up data access. Instead of going through complex ETL processes to transform data into a Tableau-readable format, save IT and analyst time by connecting to your data through Shooju using our native ODBC driver.

Spotfire is a visualization tool. Get more out of Spotfire by connecting to your internal and external data through Shooju.

Stata is a statistical package that works primarily with time-series and tabular data. Shooju makes Stata more powerful by simplifying and broadening data access through our ODBC driver.

EViews is a statistical package that is used mainly for time-series econometric analysis. EViews ships with limited connectors for external data, forcing analysts to spend time downloading and restructuring source data for import into EViews. Shooju enables native connectivity with any external data source from within EViews, similar to the direct support for FRED data.

Development tools

We maintain client libraries for popular development environments to enable modeling and rapid analytical application development. Our client libraries come with plenty of sample code to get developers started quickly.

Python is quickly becoming a favorite among our clients for sophisticated analytics and production application development. Using Python to connect to Shooju data is easy through our native package. Our package supports retrieving data as Pandas dataframes or native Python data structures.

Web-enabled dashboards are quick to build using our JavaScript library. Our library simplifies integration with popular visualization frameworks such as HighCharts and d3.js.

Our C# client simplifies connecting to Shooju for data retrieval and manipulation. The most common use case is enabling integratation between existing .NET/C# analytical applications and Shooju.

Our native R package speeds up model development by allowing single access to all external and internal data. Model outputs are often written back to Shooju for further manipulation or presentation by web visualization tools.

Shooju is a data platform for you, the analyst. Shooju stores, analyzes, and organizes your external and internal data and makes it easy to use and share in your spreadsheets, your software, on the web, and more. Shooju revolutionizes the way analysts work with their data and with each other.
